Tell us something about the first ten years of MYSTIFIER!

I formed MYSTIFIER in july 1989, with Meugninousouan on vocals, Behemoth on drums. After the releasing of our debut album "Wicca", the members' intention changed. They wanted to play a kind of trending stuff (Trash Metal was the trend...) to earn money. Then, I kicked out three of them - Meugninousouan, Behemoth and Astaroth. I called Arnald J.N.D. (vocalist) and Paulo Lisboal (guitarist) to replace them. Due that fact, we delayed almost two years to release our fourth album on Osmose Productions. We lost the chance to do an European tour in 1994 on Insolit. But, we know what we want and that wasn't the best time to go on tour. We released a MCD last year to celebrate our 10 years and to present our new stuff to labels interested to sign with us. We are finishing the compositions of our fourth full-length album, probably entitled "Sowing the evil in our hearts", with 12 fresh songs. Actually, MYSTIFIER is Arnald J.N.D. on voals, Paulo Lisboa on lead guitar, Martin Mendonca on lead guitar and Louis on drums. What are your lyrics about? What do you want to express with them? Can you say that they are satanic or fancy ones?

My lyrics are to praise the atheistic thoughts and to consume catholicism, racism, prejudice, capitalism, ignorance and other causes that afflict the human mind into an incessant bonfire. By the fire the natures reconstruct itself.

Where is the difference between the new MCD "Demystifying the mystified ones..." and your previous releases?

We are in a constant process of evolution. You can't say that our first album is a copy of the second one or that the MCD is a copy of the third one. We recorded a promo-tape just to present our new stuff to labels. A brazilian label liked the result and dealt with us to release it as a MCD. Really, we were interested to release something to celebrate our 10 years. "Demystifying the mystified ones (for a decade in earthly paradise)" is our best stuff to date.

What do you want to express with your new cover artwork and who is responsible for it?

Jan van Valkenburg (from Netherlands) made it. I visited his web site and chose that artwork. The cover is according to the title: a demystifier demystifying a mystified one (aahh.ahahaha...). He will paint also the cover of our next album, too. I've seen many bands putting no sense covers according to their titles. I laugh at them.

Tell us more about your label Demise Records, which other bands (except MYSTERIIS) have a deal with them?

They aren't our new label. Brazilian labels aren't able to put out MYSTIFIER full-length albums. It's difficult to work with brazilian labels. Probably, it was our last work with a brazilian label. The best band from their cast is MALKULTH.

Tell us more about the great Metal scene in Brazil. Tell us about underground bands except SYNDROME, SACRARIO, TORTURE SQUAD and HEADHUNTER D.C. ?!

Well, I am not an authority to speak about the new brazilian scene. Appear tons of bands here, last years. I came from the ancient times, then my favourite bands continue being SARCOFAGO (early), AAMON HAMMER, NECROFAGO, VULCANO, SEPULTURA (early), and so on. There are many labels too. But, in my opinion, the scene is infested with mercenary managers. It is the main fact our scene is not big enough yet.

What do you think about the Black and Trash Metal scene worldwide and what do you think about things like "corpse-paint", swords and...?!

Trash Metal? Is there any Trash Metal band yet?! Trash Metal was a big trend years ago. Lots of stupid bands playing that kind of stuff. Many magazines just open their pages for that stuff. Nowadays, Black Metal is the trend. All bands from hailed Norway are called "gods". I hate most of the new so-called Black Metal bands. They should be called "new goth music from northlands". Not Black Metal or Metal. Make-up, swords, outfits, white heritage, fascism, nazism don't make a Black Metal band. The ancient Black Metal elite didn't fight among themselves. BLASPHEMY, IMPURITY, BEHERIT, BLACK PROPHECIES, SARCÓFAGO were friends. They didn't fight for money!! Mercenary bands like SATYRICON and CRADLE OF FILTH must die!! Posers!! Wimps!! Assholes!! Kill the people who support those bands either!! Underground is attitude bunch of satanic gay christians!! (aaaargh...)

When can we see MYSTIFIER in Europe?

I hope to get a good request for as tour as soon we release our fourth full-length album. I can't wait to spread chaos in the old world!! (aahah.ahaha...)

I'm sure the best one will take place in the near future. I was very excited when we recorded our first MCD "The evil ascension returns". I couldn't believe that I would record my songs for a CD-release one day.
