Greetings Mighty Impiety! I really am blasted against the wall while listening to your newest masterpiece "Kaos kommand 696"!! What are your thoughts concerning the new album, is it a dream comes true to release this album? How is the response so far in the press, are you satisfied with the feedback you got yet?

Ave Chris! Yes, finally all the hard work has paid off I guess. We're glad it's finally destroying skulls and bleeding the ears of all demons alike around the world. The death toll was meant to rise! All press reviews have been very positive and to every extent, just great!

As I mentioned I hardly listened to such brutal and fast Black War Metal releases for a long time, it sounds so intense and full of hatred. How is it possible to compose such hymns of hate and darkness? How often do you rehearse to reach this standard now and do you need to be in a special mood to compose such songs of hate and anger? I suggest you rehearse several times a week, right?

When it comes to IMPIETY, nothing is impossible! Everything is just seen as a challenge and we live to take on challenges…raping all boundaries, defying any given rules, pushing everything past it's limit! Generally, we all agree that Black War Metal can only be played in the extreme-most way and we fiercely deliver our satanic steel savagery as such! On average, we rehearse 3 times a week but it's always been like that for us. As for the diabolical composition of our malevolent deathstorms…it's true that I have to be in the right mood, at the right time and let all hatred flow from my twisted soul through my fingers onto the fretboard of my weapon…

Where are the main differences for YOU between "Skullfucking Armageddon" and the new onslaught "Kaos command 696"? What are your thoughts about "Skullfucking Armageddon" now, are there any bad feelings about it which you solved on the new opus? Personally speaking I think the new album is much faster as the previous one and you put more breaks in the songs! But the songs are just better as the previous ones…your comments?

Perhaps one would observe the harsh prevalence of a heavy gunfire of blackdeath elements in 'Kaos Kommand 696' as compared to 'Skullfucking Armageddon' which blazed wicked elements of late 80s black thrash. I feel there is more progression in 'Kaos Kommand 696' but I guess it's only natural over time. Anyway, 'Skullfucking Armageddon' although monumental to us, did suffer a bit from the production. We recorded at Berno Studio and got the perfect, infernal production for IMPIETY! We are proud of such an accomplishment!

You recorded the new album in the Berno Studios in Sweden, why did you decide to go to Sweden to record the new album? Aren't there any good studios in Asia and what do you think about the sound of the new album? It's much clearer than the previous releases but I think it sounds great and the album is brutal enough to remind everybody that you are Impiety! What are the advantages of a clear sound for you? Will you enter this studio again the next time or could you imagine to check out the Abyss Studios?

If they are good studios with capable 'metal' producers to work with then we would probably record here but to date, there is no suitable studio for IMPIETY here in South East Asia or Asia for that matter. Initial plans we to first record at the same studio we recorded 'Skullfucking Armageddon' at The Battledrome (The Mastering Suite) but they were in the process of closing down. Then we thought it might be better to record in Europe and we already made a careful selection where to record and chose Andy Glassen's Stage One Studio in Germany. Everything was booket and set for Nov 2001 but then we encountered a major line-up problem when Xxxul, lead guitars, decided to quit. He quit without proper justification and it was bad for us. We had to cancel all bookings and Stage One Studios didn't want to work with us again. Well, the good thing was that Fyraun was released from prison 1st November and re-joined the regiment. We took some time, made a wise selection and chose Berno Studios this time working with Henrik Larsson as producer. Every effort has paid off…the production incredible and for sure, making each war-anthem we recorded stand out to it's hellish best. We are glad IMPIETY always sounds IMPIETY! I think IMPIETY would come back to Berno Studios without thinking twice…although it might be cool idea to check out Abyss Studio. Whatever it is, Berno Studios has done us proud in every aspect of the production and best of all, we're comfortable working with the ineffable Henrik Larsson!

You signed a deal with Osmose Productions, how did it happen and are you satisfied with Osmose and their promotion for the new album? They wrote that Impiety is the top priority release now! What do you think about this? Do you think they fit well to Impiety and what do you think about the bands which signed to Osmose Productions?

We were offered a 3 album contract end of 2000 and after discussions, we came to an agreement and signed the contract January 2001. Yes, Herve and Osmose Productions have been really supportive of IMPIETY and doing the best for us. It's great that we are top priority on the label and we'll continue to work even harder this 2003! Yes, definitely, Omose Productions has proven to the World's best extreme metal label for more than a decade over working with kult regiments, and have since signed many great demonic talents like RAVAGER, ARKHON INFAUSTUS, BLACK WITCHERY, AXIS OF ADVANCE, REVENGE, etc. All in all, we're on the perfect label and couldn't ask for more!

The cover of "Kaos Kommand 696" was drawn by Fournier, who made the covers for other bands like Immortal, Impaled Nazarene and Demoniac in the past. For the first time Impiety got a coloured cover, what do you think about the final result? And more important, why are there two different versions of covers for this release and which one do you prefer?

It was hard to relate to Fournier our christfucking ideas for the normal cd cover art and especially by just corresponding over email, but eventually Fournier delivered close to what we wanted. Overall. I think he did a great job. We prefer Desmond Sia's cover in every way as it clearly reflects the album title so well and stands out best in IMPIETY's infamous and profane tradition of warmongering demonic goats and horned legions. There are 2 cover releases namely because there are 2 versions…one limited edition digipak and one normal jewel case. The limited edition contains 2 bonus tracks, covers violently executed in the name of Brazillian blacktrash godz SEXTRASH and Canadian warlords BLASPHEMY!

Can you tell us how you compose your songs? Do you start by writing the music and who is responsible for the songwriting process? How important are lyrics for you, just a necessary evil do they mean more to you? You have got very long song titles like "Apokalyptik Nuclear Battlebeasts", do you make fun of such things or is it necessary for the music style you play? There are countless of bands who just sing about Satan and don't have a clue why they do it…your thoughts about this?

It is me who compose and write up each song. Usually before I compose the music, I roughly know what the lyrics should be about. Bands singing about Satan and not practising what they preach are fake bands formed by trendies. It's important to believe in your music and practise what you preach! Bands who haven't the spirit at all, never last a lifetime at all as you can see from history how many wannabe BlackMetal acts there once were in the mid-90s and where are they today? Only the strongest survives and that's a fact! IMPIETY commands and preaches satanic war, death, blasphemy, terror, goatworship, perversion, angelraping rituals as well as genocide! We must constantly wage apokalyptik war against the followers of Jesus Christ and other useless man-created Gods killing, destroying all hope and dreams of a promised bullshit paradise!

There are several line-up changes in the Impiety band history…do you know why? Is it so difficult to work with your guys or does it come naturally?

Who can ever predict line-up changes. It's inevitable you know. For all 12 years it has been hard on me to secure lasting warlords for the band…but I've managed to do it spilling much blood, time, sweat and money in the process. IMPIETY has to move on and not lie in the corner wounded just because one of it's kommanders has problems and decides to call it a day. Abyddos from 'Asateerul Awaleen' era had to leave because he had to serve the National Service. Members like Iblyss was kicked out because of lack of dedication and others like Demonomancer, ran into so much personal financial problems he had to give up the band to work fulltime and support his family. Dajjal from "Skullfucking Armageddon" was told to leave because his dedication and effort slacked for the band due to label work (Dies Irae Productions). Dagoth, the ex-ABHORER drummer and also who drummed for IMPIETY on the first euro tour (playing at the DESASTER Metal meeting in 2000) had to leave because of work commitment since he was promoted to a manager of his company and had no free time to rehearse. I am glad the current line-up is the very best since the last 'Skullfucking Armageddon" recording and together we try to overcome and krush any obstacles along our infernal path as a team.

On the new album there are also two cover songs of Sextrash and Blasphemy. Do you have more cover songs ready and are there some songs you want to cover in the future? What can you tell us about your musical influences, name us your favourite bands and are there bands you are waiting for their next release? Which album did you buy at last? Do you remember how you came into Metal, which was your first album and what does Metal mean to you? Do you listen to Black Metal only or just anything in the Metal genre?

These 2 covers were chosen specifically and not just for the sake of putting bonus tracks on the limited edition. Those 2 covers we re-desecrated and recorded really mean a lot to us! SEXTRASH is a band I was totally into and one of our inspirations prior to inception. Oswaldo Pussyripper, their vocalist who died in a fatal car crash in 97, was like a demonic beast on stage and very much respected by me! We decided to record this track in honour and tribute to the band's heavy ripping-evil influence to IMPIETY all these 12 fucking years! Canadian desecrators and warbrothers BLASPHEMY whom I've been in touch with since their amazing Blood Upon the Altar demo 89 has earned all my admiration and respect all these years for keeping the spirit alive and maintaining great demonic komradeship over these years! When the band first incepted, we were all heavily influenced (and still are!) by menthors BATHORY (the first 3 albums!), SODOM (everything!), early SARCOFAGO, SEXTRASH, HOLOCAUSTO, old VENOM, early MORBID ANGEL, NECROVORE, VIOLENT FORCE, old SADUS, early ASSASSIN, old KREATOR, early BEHERIT, BLASPHEMY, etc.etc. The very first album I bought would be AC-DC "Back in Black" in the early 80s…I was but a little crazy kid and from there just hungered for more heavier, extreme and faster metal bands. Metal means everyfuckingthing to me, it's obvious IMPIETY proves all power of my ironfucking demonic soul. I listen only to Extreme black/speed/death/thrash/heavy metal. Only Pure Extreme Metal is in my interest, nothing else!

How is the underground scene in your country, can you tell us a bit about some other bands and fanzines, how is the location of metal concerts and where are the differences for you between Asia and Europe? Are there any bigger Metal festivals in Asia like in Germany for example? What bands are worth it to check them out of your country?

The metal underworld here in Singapore is small one. There used to be many good extreme black/death metal bands but today only a few to recommend as the rest are just not progressing at all and releasing anything new. Bands I'd recommend to check out here in Singapore are Nechbeyth (fast blackmetal) , Vrykolakas (brutal death), Bunuh (deathmetal), Rudra (deathmetal), Cardiac Necropsy (deathgrind), Ironfist (heavyfuckingmetal), Demonification (deahthrash), Sadistory(deathmetal). More or less there are about 5-6 good gigs annually. The zines worth reading from Singapore and South East Asian Hell would be Domain Zine, Steel Madness, Metal Terus (metalterus.com). In Indonesia there exist many huge metalfestivals…usually monthly! If not once every 2 months they'll have a huge metalfest! It's obvious that Europe is the metal capital of the world and here in Asia, it's totally different because Asian culture and values are still strong and not very open to 'metal' culture and way of life. There is support for metal (gigs and bands) however, but minimal as compared to that in Europe. I am glad that no matter what the Asian metal underworld has grown bigger and stronger over the years boasting more and more great bands and demonic talents. I'd strongly recommend all extreme metal legions and demons to check out South East Metal Force Portal as it's a huge gateway introducing in great detail the metal scene and underground in each Asian country to detail. http://members.tripod.com/~seametalforce/.

You played some tours now and you visited Germany. What can you tell us about the experiences you made on tour, did you enjoy it to tour in different countries? How was the response on tour? What can we expect from an Impiety concert and what can you tell us about your future live activities? As far as I know you will come back to Europe next year to promote your new album. Do you know which bands will join you and where do you prefer to play live? Are there some bands you want to tour with or did you reach everything you wanted when you joined the stage with Sodom in Bangkok? What can you tell us about this gig?

We did 2 euro assaults (tours) last year..the first one was a 4date 'Skullfucking Armageddon Tour 2000" and the second one was 15dates over 6 countries "Skullfucking Euro Battlestorms Tour 2000". All in all both tours were savage beyond belief and we totally enjoyed the entire time! We lost alot of money during the first euro hellslaughter and got ripped off 2000 DM during the second tour from the Tour Manager who was working for DRAKKAR PRODUCTIONS. All in all, we still owe it big time and thank Cyril + the entire crew of DRAKKAR PRODUCTIONS for kind and krazy hospitality! All the IMPIETY kommanders had a truly killer time desecrating and destroying stages and especially meeting really dedicated die-hard and true-as-fuck goatworshipping maniacs & steelshredding demons! Yes, we will be back and just awaiting confirmation from Osmose Productions and Metalysee Agency. Yes, it will be chaos simply doing a tour with RAVAGER, SURRENDER OF DIVINITY, BLASPHEMY, ABSU, IMMOLATION or BLACK WITCHERY!! The gig with SODOM went really well despite IMPIETY having only to play 30mins. It was great meeting up with Angelripper, Bernemann and Bobby. It did surprise me that in actual fact they are really down to earth and diehard metal tyrants! We had a killer time in Bangkok (Capital City of Spicy Pussy) and all Hailz to Siamese BlackMetal Emperors Surrender of Divinity for the great hospitality!!

What can you tell us about your future activities in general? Are you going to wait and see what the next tour brings or do you concentrate in new songs yet? How will the next effort of Impiety sound like?

We're preparing to take Asia by storm! Between March-April 2003 IMPIETY will embark on an extensive South East Asian tour promoting the wrath from 'Kaos Kommand 696'. We hope to tour Euro by early Summer. We've commenced writing up new war-anthems…that will continue and follow up closely alongside our impious hellfucking tradition!

Any last words for the German fans? Can't wait to see you live on stage this year!!!

696 Nuklear Battle Thanks for the incinerating interview session Chris! Thanks for your patience komrade..time is my next biggest enemy after the followers of Christ! To those who've met us, personally know us and always been supporting us, we extend our sincere appreciations and hellish bestial warhailz! Expect more apokalyptik terror when IMPIETY rapes Germany in time to come…..
